A World of Negotiating Experience

HOPE's Champion Task Force

Immediately following the 9.11 attacks on the World Trade Center, Wendeen H. Eolis mobilized and led a professional corps of volunteers to counsel survivors, particularly lawyers and executives that worked in or near the Twin Towers regarding their immediate work plans and career options. She also formed volunteer groups to assist other displaced workers and their families, arranging for a wide range of personnel counseling services and ongoing support systems, as they plowed forward in recovery.

After a few months of experience assisting companies affected by the terrorist attacks in New York, Ms. Eolis traveled throughout the Middle East meeting with government agency representatives, military personnel and social services professionals on behalf of American interests. In the fall of 2002, Ms. Eolis became Commander of HOPE's Champion Task Force, a program that was created to work on the development of personnel initiatives for emergency preparedness planning and disaster recovery operations.

Since then, under Ms. Eolis' command, HOPE's Champion Task Force has responded to calls for help worldwide, from businesses, civic leaders and government representatives. Ms. Eolis worked with tribal chiefs in South Asia after the tsunami and with village leaders in small towns on the Mississippi Gulf Coast following unprecedented hurricane damages. HOPE's Champion Task Force volunteers have worked their way out of chaos around the world, from New Orleans' Hurricane Katrina to hostile zones in the Middle East, as unsung heroes in personnel initiatives, assisting in emergency planning and disaster recovery operations.

The range of programs include: relocation counseling, evacuation activities, career counseling, retention of vendors and experts in small towns and cities to provide local advice and the organization of volunteer corps to assist in various stages of emergencies. As Commander of HOPE's Champion, Ms. Eolis brings to the table a broad cultural awareness as well as an imposing list of contacts for this global program. She is never shy about calling on her extraordinary array of relationships among domestic and foreign leaders, as her teams strive to elevate the quality of life for those who have been shaken by the threats and the realities of tragedy.
